Charlie has been a key volunteer in the efforts to restore Nelson County’s economy by promoting tourism. Beginning with participation in round table discussions in the 90's, continuing as the first treasurer when those efforts evolved into the Nelson County Tourism Council, followed by 15 years of committee membership producing the Nelson County Summer Festival and then a decade of board membership with Rural Nelson, Charlie’s work has been a valuable contribution to the formation of the burgeoning agri-tourism industry that's made Nelson County a nationally recognized destination.
There should be no surprise Charlie's name is on the founding documents of Friends of Nelson, an organization formed to resist the (now canceled!) Atlantic Coast Pipeline. Recognizing his knowledge of Nelson County real estate, Charlie was appointed to the 2018 Board of Equalization. Along the way he’s helped his real estate clients realize their objectives, and taught many how to avoid winter poison ivy rash.
